ACTING HEAD/TEAM LEADER INTERPRETATION UNIT, ENGLISH HERITAGE
I worked for the English Heritage Interpretation Unit from 2005 to 2012. The team is responsible for interpretation planning and delivery for a large number of projects of varying sizes for English Heritagefs 400-plus sites. From autumn 2009 I was heading the team and in charge of:
- interpretation planning and strategy
- management of a team of 8 Interpretation Managers and Officers
- project management
- quality control
- training
- advocacy
- consultation and advice
In detail this included:
- the delivery of an English Heritage Interpretation Strategy
- the delivery of new interpretation schemes including Battle Abbey, Carisbrooke Castle, Carlisle Castle, Dover Castle Great Tower and Secret Wartime Tunnels Operation Dynamo etc
- interpretation strategies and plans for Kirby Hall, Housesteads Roman Fort, Brodsworth Hall, Osborne House Swiss Cottage
- audience research and evaluation
delivery of in-house and external training
- publications
- talks at sector conferences (MA, AHI, Museums ID)
- collaborations with external partners.
